| Construction Techniques: John's ship was a Encore design change to match John's strong discus launches. The wing has an airfoil based on the popular AG16 airfoil, classified by John as the JAHLG-B. The airfoil is 6.5 % thick with 1.5% camber. At this thickness the ailerons are prone to flutter. But not on John's ship. When he and Gordon Jennings were developing the ship they realized that flutter would occur. Burried in the leading edge of the ailerons is a carbon fiber tube. This tube distributes the forces and stops the flutter. The wing has kevlar skins, John had amazing launches. |
